Somehow, folks think that once you accept the gift of eternal life by faith, things are rosey peachy, but 'taint so. When you read scripture, you realize that when Lord Jesus ascending to Heaven, he promised a comforter. Why would He promise someone who will make it better if it was supposed to be good times? Well, that's where the SINisterminister comes into the picture. He makes Hell on earth just to cause us to doubt God. I love the many verses of "assurance", but one of my favorites was written to the Church in Jerusalem after Christ returned to His Father: "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." (James 1:12)
We do not have to "persevere" on our own. The Holy Spirit will give us strength. That is the promise of God through His Son. Life down here isn't ever going to be a bed of roses. It just isn't in the plans. Jesus said that there will be wars and rumors of wars and drought and storms and rough seas. They are all in evidence for a purpose. We fail to follow God's Will for our life and these tragedies come as a reminder of the brighter day with Jesus. Regardless of the situation, with Jesus there IS peace. By the time you read this I will have taken the "SHOT". It is of concern simply due to my age and COPD. I spend 24/7 carefully avoiding anything that would case pulmonary problems. I trust my doctor and the Lord. It is with a heart filled with songs of praise accompanied by the beat of knocking knees that I did so, SO, I stand on what Brother James says 'cause this whole virus situation sorta scares me, donchaknow. I've come through much worse with Jesus in my corner, so here goes!
And that's what I get from My Box of Chocolates right here in my corner studio under the shadow of Kyle Field.
