I am not a brave person. A Pacifist at heart, lover of the simple things, it was never my intent to be violent. I did enjoy walloping the stuffing out of bullies back in the day, but only under boxing rules. To those who carry concern around on the back, I have a wonderful fact of faith I love to share. Simon Peter was an uneducated commercial fisherman with a crew, including his brother, Andrew, and a boat, owned by his father. He and Andrew were mending their nets when Jesus walked up and began his very short ministry while on earth. He simply said, "Good Morning! If you two will come with me, I will make you fishers of men!" Scripture says that right away they did just that. Perhaps out of curiosity, but they did so by Faith, also. Peter and Andrew were the first of the "TWELVE". (just a thought! Isn't 12 a rather sacred number to an Aggie?....just sayin'). Peter wrote what I am saying much better than I. It is verse 4, chapter 1 of second Peter, "Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." Corruption abounds in this world and it will be here until the end. Corruption is simply SIN. We are naturally sinners from our first breath until our last. We will never be 'sinless', but can be forgiven for all of it through the blood shed on a cross by My Lord Jesus Christ!
That's why I never worry for long. I have the blessed assurance that my faith and conscious attempt at non-sin will do as God and Jesus promised. Praise God for "divine nature"! In this verse, Peter is referring to the Power of God. Nothing man or the SINisterminister can do to prevent any of us to go to Hell because of the soul-cleansing blood shed by Jesus Christ. So, join Peter, Alph,Bobby McFerrin, and me !
And that's what I get from My Box of Chocolates right here in my corner studio under the shadow of Kyle Field.
