This is still our national pledge, just in case you're wondering: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands; One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all."
Some time back, I had a small interest in a professional indoor football team here in Texas. I had the privilege of leading this pledge before our first game of the season. One of our state officials was at the game and she made a point to thank me after the contest. I found it interesting that the broadcast team commented that my pace was too slow. I made it that way in, hoping the words would find a home in hearts. It would appear that today, the pledge would be made to the Democratic Party, donchaknow. Really! Never in my ninety years would I have ever believed my country would wander from righteousness as much as now. Perhaps we should cut to the chase and adopt a new pledge. How about this one from the Bible, found in the 25th chapter of Isaiah, verse 1: "Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago".
Perhaps if we said it enough times, it would finally reach OUR hearts.
When was the last time you took time to praise God for anything. Well, it's time, since only HE has provided EVERYTHING! Every good and perfect gift is from God, period!
And that's what I get from My Box of Chocolates right here in my corner studio under the shadow of Kyle Field.
